My name is Kameelah Janan Rasheed. I am a learner and a death doula in training. My work explores and experiments with gestures of non-compliance and disobedience in both written and spoken language. I am based between New York City and the Los Angeles area, and hail from East Palo Alto, CA, by way of enslaved ancestors from Maryland, Arkansas, Louisiana, and Texas.

In my free time, I enjoy playing Japanese logic games (such as Sudoku, Kakuro, and Masyu), following the latest research on human and non-human perception, as well as orbital patterns, and dancing. Less regularly than I’d like, I enjoy powerlifting, improv, listening to the vinyl I inherited from my late grandmother, watching mystery-box television, and playing my theremin.
